During Digital Citizenship Week in October of 2025, Snap Inc. and Digital4Good came together to empower educators, students, and families to foster safer online communities. The collaboration was highlighted at “Click to Character: Creating a Framework for Digital Wellbeing,” a full-day digital citizenship event hosted at Snap’s offices in Manhattan. Aimed at Student Services Managers and school leaders, the workshop addressed the influx of student incidents fueled by digital drama and equipped attendees with practical strategies for a positive digital culture shift. Read on to learn the top takeaways from this event.
Inside “The Keys” and Other Digital Tools
One of the most notable resources spotlighted during the event is “The Keys.” Developed by Snapchat in collaboration with safety organizations like the Cyberbullying Research Center and Family Online Safety Institute, this interactive online safety program teaches teens how to identify and navigate online risks such as bullying, harassment, intimate image sharing, online drug activity, and sextortion. Moreover, the program helps teens understand both the benefits and risks of technology, learn how to stay safe, and respond when they feel uncomfortable online.
In addition to “The Keys,” Snap Inc. spotlighted a set of online safety guides and resources, including:
- How to Report a Snap
- Quick Guide to Snapchat Reporting
- Snapchat Family Safety Hub
- An Educator’s Guide to Snapchat
Each resource is designed to help educators, parents, and students understand how to report harmful content, use built-in safety features, and create safer digital interactions within the app.
What Digital4Good Brought To The Table
Digital4Good showcased its own set of free digital citizenship and safety resources, including the Social Media Emergency Plan, Digital Citizenship Week lessons, Social Media Blueprint for School Accounts, and the R.E.A.C.T. Framework for addressing cyberbullying. The team emphasized the importance of teaching authentic interactions, helping students navigate emotional challenges online, and promoting responsible digital behavior. They also introduced an AI Usage Checklist and the Family Device Agreement, which encourage thoughtful reflection on daily technology use and provide families with guidance for building safer digital habits.
Building Safer Digital Communities Together
Overall, the collaboration demonstrated Snapchat and Digital4Good’s shared commitment to helping schools, families, and youth build a positive digital environment. As the digital world continues to expand, it’s crucial for organizations and companies to work together to promote safety and responsible online behavior. By utilizing the resources provided by Snapchat and Digital4Good, communities can take meaningful steps toward creating a safer and more supportive online space for everyone.
