Meet Mary & Michelle Xie, Founders of Her STEM Journey
About Mary
Tingrui Mary Xie, a senior at Oak Grove High School, is a leader in promoting STEM among young women. As Student Body Vice President and Mu Alpha Theta President, Mary champions STEM education. She has represented Mississippi in national leadership programs and is a published author.
Recognized as a National Cyber Scholar, Mary is committed to breaking gender stereotypes in STEM. Her leadership and advocacy efforts aim to empower the next generation of female innovators.
About Michelle
Jiarui Michelle Xie, a sophomore at Oak Grove High School, is dedicated to closing the gender gap in STEM. As Sophomore Class Secretary and Speech and Debate Speech Captain, she actively promotes STEM education. Michelle has created educational YouTube content and offers free tutoring at her local library.
Her achievements include participating in coding programs and earning recognition as a National Cyber Scholar. Michelle's passion for technology and social impact drives her commitment to inspiring young girls in STEM.
Project Overview
Her STEM Journey, co-founded by Mary and Michelle Xie, is dedicated to fostering interest in STEM among young women. The project breaks gender stereotypes and provides resources to help girls achieve their goals.
Through educational videos, a comprehensive website, and local community outreach, Her STEM Journey offers free tutoring, workshops, and interviews with successful female STEM professionals. This initiative aims to inspire the next generation of female leaders in science and technology.
