Bridging Health Equity Through Art

Transforming lived health experiences into stories that inspire empathy and change.

About Steven

Steven Xol-Quevedo is the founder of Project H.E.ART, inspired by his own experiences navigating the healthcare system with a rare bleeding disorder and witnessing health disparities in his Rockaway community. A first-generation student from a low-income background, Steven recognized the deep disconnect between health systems and marginalized communities. Through Project H.E.ART, he uses art as a powerful tool for healing, advocacy, and amplifying voices too often left unheard.

Project Overview

Project H.E.ART (Health Equity and Art) is an initiative that raises awareness about health disparities through art, storytelling, and community engagement. The project highlights the experiences of marginalized communities—especially BIPOC and low-income populations—who face medical bias and unequal access to care. By hosting art workshops, public exhibits, student panels, and digital media campaigns, Project H.E.ART humanizes health statistics and sparks dialogue that fosters empathy and drives systemic change.
